I do have a husband and a daughter, both of whom admittedly share a lot of my interests. Not that I donвЂ™t have any other interests at all. Or just recently, IвЂ™m painting pictures of fantastical women. Or IвЂ™m looking wistfully at my old Renaissance Faire clothes and thinking about how I really ought to go out to more events but usually donвЂ™t. Or IвЂ™m reading about fantastical creatures from folklore, gods and witches and occultism. Or IвЂ™m watching movies that are either fantasy, horror, superhero, or some combination. When IвЂ™m doing neither of those, IвЂ™m playing fantasy RPGs, video game or tabletop. When IвЂ™m not writing fantasy, IвЂ™m reading it. The Devourer is a dark epic trilogy about a magical race determined to wipe itself out in holy war, and the rest of the world with it if possible. House of Deceit is an urban fantasy about a small band of fey folk caught up in vampire politics. IвЂ™ve been writing fantasy since at least the second grade, where I won an award for a story called The Princess and the Serpent. Seuss onward, the fantastic has always been my lifeblood. The Devourer is a dark epic trilogy about a magical race determined to From Dr. This book is one I will happily read repeatedly.moreДЇrom Dr. They give you a necessary look into the mind and world of the antagonist, while deepening your understanding of what the protagonists are up against, and how high the stakes are. The more intense scenes are not gratuitous they absolutely serve the story. Parts of the second half of the book are not for the faint of heart, but there are enough signs of what's to come that you're not surprised when the intensity kicks up a few notches. Many times throughout the story I found myself with bristling with frission of delight, suspense, or disquiet, because of how deeply I'd been drawn into the story. McCord put into this book, with beautiful details peppered throughout the story that sound and feel natural in the story. One of the best fantasy books I've read in a long time.
